(Doc ID 1541428.1) Compute node: The option to install third party software on the Exadata DB compute nodes is permitted,provided they don't change the OS,kernel,or the InfiniBand packages. You should check with the third party vendor that the application is certified on the specific OS version that Exadata uses (see MOS note 888828.1 for specific version information) Third party monitoring tools,like IBM Tivoli and xymon,can be installed on Exadata compute (database) nodes. Storage cell: It is *not* permitted to install such software on the storage cells; the only software to be applied to storage cells is to be done through official Oracle patches. The storage cells are considered a closed system,so it is not supported to install any third party software on cell nodes.
